Spain: The Army Takes its Stand

Story image We just launched 3 months of continual prayer in Spain at the Contracorriente gathering near Zaragoza. This is unprecedented in Spanish history in that it is being driven by the young people and comes in the wake of the recent terror attacks on trains in Madrid which have left the nation in mourning (above) and even replaced the government in a single week.

24-7 speaker, Pete Greig, challenged the 1200 delegates to 'stand in the gap' for the nation at this critical time, and almost every person stood in response.  He spoke with 201 candles burning - representing the number of lives lost in the bombings. 'This is not a game,' he said. 'The pain is real. The terror is real. But so is our God and the power he has given us in prayer.'

'The pain is real. The terror is real. But so is our God and the power he has given us in prayer.'

A film-maker from Madrid shared his own experiences and emotions about the bombings in the form of a powerful 2 minute film, and then  representatives of every group came to collect one of the 201 extinguished candles, pledging to re-light it back home in prayer. Many wept the next day as they responded to Marcos Jobe (Chicago) who called many to seek the 'double portion' from God. There were amazing signs that God's work in Spain is maturing and reproducing, impacting real communities and producing excellent young leaders such as Jas Jacob, who leads 24-7 in Spain.

Please pray for Spain at this time - especially as The Passion movie hits screens nationwide.
